Paraprofessional and Auxiliary Transitions Key Terms and Data Calculations
The Paraprofessional and Auxiliary Transitions Dashboard helps school systems monitor career pathways and transitions of existing school staff into teaching roles. By reviewing this data, school systems can track transitions to teaching trends among paraprofessional and auxiliary staff, address staffing gaps, and plan for future recruitment needs.

Data Calculations
Count of Furthest Milestone Achieved
This visualization considers all milestones achieved by each individual not only in the selected year, but in all years prior to the selected year to determine the furthest milestone achieved by each individual. Thus, if an individual had ‘Enrolled in Texas teacher preparation’ in 2021-2022 but as of 2023-2024 still had not yet ‘Started clinical experience’ then for Year=2023-2024 the individual would fall into the count of ‘Enrolled in Texas teacher preparation’. Furthermore, an individual will only be counted in one of the categories at most. For example, if an individual had achieved all four milestones as of 2023-2024, that individual would only be counted in the "Certified as a teacher" milestone category since that represents their furthest milestone achieved of the four milestones.
Progress Transitioning to Teaching Roles
the upper line graph shows the counts through time. This includes the selected year and the two prior years. The lower bar graph shows a further breakdown of individuals that have achieved each milestone in the selected year.
