Purpose
The TalentED Dashboards, developed by TEA and offered to all school systems free of charge, are focused on connecting school systems with talent data. By aggregating state and school system data together into visualizations, these dashboards enable school systems to access and update their strategies related to hiring and retention practices.
Research was conducted to learn what school systems would find impactful in these dashboards. Stakeholders from a varied group of school systems were selected, and they provided input on what data they felt should be included.
Access
Access is currently online through the Texas Education Exchange.
- If you are currently an Exchange member, reach out to your school system's technical administrator.
- If you are not an Exchange member, follow the guidance here.
School systems will decide who can access their organization's dashboards. Each school system has a technical administrator that will work with the Texas Education Exchange to grant authorized individuals access to view the TalentED Dashboards.
The admin role allows users to see all dashboard pages. This specifically includes the details tables that show confidential personnel information, such as Names and TEA IDs.
- Admin users with an eODS connection will see the most recent data they have loaded into their eODS. It is important for school systems to consider if more frequent updates would make the TalentED Dashboards more useful and work with their internal Exchange contacts to adjust the refresh cadence.
- If a school system does not have an eODS connection, admin users will see state data based on PEIMS and ECOS submissions. In particular, employment data will lag because TEA only receives data submissions annually in October. This annual data is not able to be loaded into the TalentED Dashboards until spring of the next calendar year.
School system staff with a user role can see all dashboard pages except the details tables that show confidential personnel information, such as Names and TEA IDs.

Data
- PEIMS – state source for K-12 data
- ECOS – state source for educator certification data
- Exchange Operational Data Store (eODS) - only for members that load data for relevant dashboard fields
For additional details about each data source, consult the dashboard Overview page.
The primary purpose of the dashboards is for continuous improvement, not state and federal reporting. However, a variety of TEA programs have identified alignment between TalentED dashboard data and key programmatic data points. Please consult your TEA program administrator for further guidance (if applicable).
School system users must use their Texas Education Exchange login to see their data. To maintain confidentiality, school system technical administrators determine who can access person-level views for their candidates. Moreover, person-level views are not available to anyone outside of the school system. In addition, when individuals leave a school system, access to the TalentED Dashboards can be revoked.
Users can export data as an Excel file but cannot export dashboard visualizations.
Support
Data for the dashboards comes from state reporting. If the school system is an Exchange member, data also comes from the district eODS. School systems with eODS data should verify that their data is being loaded properly. If a school system believes their data is not reflected properly on the dashboards, they can file a Help Desk ticket. When doing so, please be sure to include details that will help us review the data. This can include screenshots or details about the data.
Currently, navigation guides and protocols are available on the overview page of the TalentED Dashboards.
The TalentED Academy website, set to launch in Spring 2026, will have navigation instructions for all of the dashboards. In addition, protocols for describing, framing, analyzing, and acting based on dashboard data insights. Video resources will also be available.
Any other questions or issues can be submitted to the TalentED Academy Help Desk.
